So what is a blog?
Well, in theory and in it’s purest form it is a “personal” diary. So this blog is my diary of this week.
As co-founder along with Marc Drees of this vision that is Kangarooster, the idea of building the worlds most “candidate centric Job board” is and has been if nothing else challenging.
It is fine having a vision but delivering on it can be “fun”. Bring together a host of cutting-edge technologies under one bonnet is always challenging. BUT when it is technology that no-one else has really integrated the fun is doubled, to say the least.
When every deadline is “stretched” and you keep wondering when we will get there, you get hope by the actions of others. I’m lucky I have a huge network of industry friends who get the “vision” and know my passion and who this week have been total supportive.
This last Monday and Tuesday I trained some great guys at a UK advertising agency on on-line recruitment, who, what and when might happen and how to work with clients at a more strategic level and use the ever increasing range of technologies to gain competitive edge.
On Wednesday moved to Holland. On Thusrday presented to 4 leading Dutch Advertising Agencies our great vision. Kangarooster, they got it and liked it. Their challenge is how to recommend this vision to a client in what is a pretty conservative industry.
So, what about the nightmare bit? It is my co-visionary, Marc. To be a visionary, a true one, you have to be passionate, total driven, totally confident with the vision and the ability to deliver it. Alas, all those attributes have a flipside… but for all the “downsides” being arrogant, driven, and obsessive does tend to help a project tick.
Next time my final piece on Where should recruitment sit in an organisation, part 3.
